On March 4, 2026, the regular meeting of the AIR working group was held at the RA Ministry of Economy. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA and Head of the Working Group, Mrs. Tatevik Sargsyan. Representatives from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), RA Ministry of Economy, the “Centre for Agricultural Services” SNCO, the RA Food Safety Inspectorate Body, the “Ani Pass” system, the CARD Foundation, participated in the meeting.
Three main issues were discussed during the meeting. First, participants reviewed the results and challenges identified during the monitoring activities conducted in 2024.
Particular attention was given to the continuation of the digitalization processes of the Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) system, as well as to the digitalization of veterinary functions, including the integration of state-funded vaccination activities into the system. It was emphasized that these measures would improve the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data within the AIR system, thereby enhancing the management of animal health information and strengthening disease surveillance and control.
The participants also discussed that after the release of the digitalization tools, a pilot program will be implemented in a pre-selected region or community. The pilot program will provide an opportunity to assess the practical applicability and effectiveness of the developed solutions, identify areas of possible improvement, and, in case of positive results, ensure the phased expansion and large-scale implementation of the system.
The members of the Working Group reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their joint efforts to further improve the animal identification and registration system.
With the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the CARD Foundation continues to contribute to the establishment and development of the Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) system in the Republic of Armenia. This support includes assistance in the development of sectoral policies, the identification of challenges facing the system, the facilitation of joint discussions and the development of practical solutions, as well as the continuous strengthening of institutional and technical capacities within the sector.
