Highlighting the key role of veterinarians in the processes of animal identification and registration, animal health protection and food safety, within the framework of the "Enhanced Animal Identification and Registration System in Armenia for Sustainable Agriculture" project funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and implemented by the CARD Foundation, on May 12 of this year, a meeting was held at the CARD Foundation with students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry of the Armenian National Agrarian University.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the significance and development prospects of the Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) system, to discuss the possibilities of professional involvement in the public and private sectors, as well as to create an open discussion platform where students had the opportunity to openly share opinions, raise questions and receive professional and practical answers.
Students from different years of the university participated in the discussion.
An interesting and meaningful discussion took place during the meeting, within the framework of which the current problems in the field, the professional development and employment opportunities of young specialists, as well as the prospects for the development of the veterinary system were discussed. The current reforms, new initiatives and evolutions in the area were also discussed, including the importance of introducing an animal identification and registration system.
As a result of the discussion, the importance of the active participation of the young generation in sectoral processes was emphasized. An agreement was reached to continue organizing such meetings in order to regularly listen to the professional opinions and suggestions of future specialists and ensure their involvement in the development processes of the sector.
This meeting once again highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between the university, students, and the professional community. Such initiatives provide an opportunity not only to present the role of the veterinary profession and the priorities for the development of the area, but also to listen to the opinions of young people through direct dialogue, answer their questions of interest, encourage their professional growth, and form an active and responsible community of future professionals in the field.
