Meetings to Raise Awareness and Assess the Current Status of the Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) System in Gegharkunik Region

On June 22 of this year, within the framework of the “Enhanced Animal Identification and Registration System in Armenia for Sustainable Agriculture” project, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, together with the CARD Foundation, conducted a visit to Gegharkunik region to raise awareness about the animal identification and registration system, as well as to identify and record existing problems.

 As part of the visit, meeting was organized with the participation of representatives of the regional administration, heads of enlarged communities, administrative officials of settlements, farmers engaged in livestock breeding, veterinarians, as well as business operators engaged in slaughterhouse activities.

The main goal of the meeting was to discuss the problems and difficulties arising during the use of the AIR system, answer questions of interest to the participants and propose possible solutions to them. At the same time, the participants were presented with the latest changes made to the system, new opportunities and planned improvements, explaining how they can be applied in practice. The meeting also provided an opportunity to establish direct contact with the participants: the beneficiaries shared their experience, presented suggestions and voiced their observations, which may be useful in further improving the system.

At the end of the event, participants were given informative posters and leaflets. The purpose of providing information materials, contributes to effective application of AIR system.
